Wow, today was an amazing day! So nice out, feels like early spring. After battling the damn flu for the last two weeks, I finally got out in the open air and did some hiking. My daughter had a two hour snowboard lesson at Mt. Baker, so I used that time to enjoy the sun.
I had a great time and took in the beautiful views. Luckily, I didn’t cough all the way up and down the mountain, but it was a challenge considering I have been inactive for three weeks. This week I am feeling well enough and more than motivated to do some running and my barre dvd.

So today, I am not regretfully telling you, but happily telling you that I decided to stop my whole30 on day sixteen. I have been thinking about this since yesterday, and I mean seriously thinking about it. Yesterday was difficult, brutal actually. We went to Vancouver, B.C. and went to this fabulous market on Granville Island. It was an unexpected stop, so I was not prepared. I drooled over the smoked salmon, red wine prosciutto, and the cheese section. Soon, I realized we needed to get out of there and hit the road before I went insane. On the way home I felt awful, my own fault of course. But it was my tipping point. I have decided to transition into mostly paleo, and I more than feel ready to give up the grains, gluten, ice cream, and high sugar syrups that are in coffee drinks. I surprise myself by saying that too, but yesterday I proved to myself that I can walk past the french pastries, breads, and donuts without thinking twice, only because I know what will happen to my gut. The feeling I have when eating clean, this feeling of energy and a pain-free gut has shown me that I do not want to go back to feeling like crap and feeling like a slug. I am ready to continue eating like this permanently, but with some added sweetness, and by some, I mean minimal amounts. I am ready to face the world, and I am ready to say “I just don’t eat that stuff.” when I am at a restaurant or social gathering. I can do this. With that in mind, I am now posting my after pics. I mean there were some small physical changes to report!
So not much of a difference in the frontal action.

Over the last sixteen days, I have lost four pounds and gained a new appreciation for food. For those of you who are still doing a whole30, keep it up! You are doing great!
Wow, I am proud of myself. I have made it to day twelve of my whole30, and it keeps getting easier. I am amazed that I am doing this with my husband home. He is really being supportive and understanding, which helps immensely. Today I added running back to my routine and I felt pretty good. I did two and a half miles, and tomorrow I think I want to do five. I don’t have a lot going on right now, so nothing else to report. Hope all is going great well, until next time!
What my meals are like on a daily basis
This week sure flew by, I can’t believe I am on day eight! So far, I have been managing pretty well. The first three days were rough, but now I am feeling good. I have to stay on top of my food planning and dishes so I don’t get overwhelmed and throw in the towel. I have noticed I am sleeping through the night, which I don’t normally do. I also have a greater appreciation for apples and bananas, I never realized how sweet an apple can really be! Next week, I plan on kicking my cooking up a notch, as it has been pretty simple over the first week.

Day six of my whole30, yay! Butt-ton of dishes, boo! I thought I did a lot of dishes before, but now? Oy. I stay at home and home school the kiddo, so we cook three times per day. Even with prepping food the day before I still have this mess:
Does it ever end? I dunno, maybe I am going about it the wrong way. Does anyone else have a massive increase of dishes when you cook whole30 or paleo friendly? If I don’t keep up with the dishes, I lose motivation. So off to work I go!
P. S. Excuse my hideous, 90′s green counter tops, they will be replaced within a few months… I hope.
I am on day five of my whole30, and today was a breeze! My daughter and I went snowboarding at the crack of dawn, and I went prepared. I packed us crock pot beef that pulled apart with ease in our trusty Stanley lunch jars, carrots, and bananas. We ate breakfast at 6:45 then when we got up there I had to eat my banana because I was starving and I knew I couldn’t brave the cold and fresh snow without any energy. At 11:30 we were ready to go, and I surprised myself because I did’t need to eat. What? Who am I? I waited until 12:30 when we got home to dive into my delicious jar of beef. I impressed myself. After lunch, I had coffee and a hot bath. It was heaven.
Now, I am food and mentally prepping for tomorrow, because my husband gets home. When he is home for three weeks after working for three weeks, we go into vacation mode. NOT THIS TIME! He knows this too, and I mentally prepped him to tell me no if I have any temptation to cheat. Which I know that I won’t. I have steamed broccoli, baked chicken for my curried chicken salad with shredded spinach, and I have chopped sweet potatoes for sweet potato hash. Tomorrow, the hubs is coming home with a boat load of salmon from Alaska (I hope he is), and we are making a trip to Seattle to dink around and check out some meat shops. It sounds like we are going to be well stocked for the next month!

I survived day two of my whole30! Now on with day three. For lunch I had one of my favorites, roast chicken thighs and guacamole. I swear I could eat roast chicken everyday. Seriously. Today I brushed some garlic infused olive on the thighs, then sprinkled salt, pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika all over them. So satisfying, especially with the guac.
I think I might survive until dinner without feeling like a train wreck.
